Are You a Member of Angie's List?
Angie's List is a great source of unbiased reports and reviews of service companies and health care providers. Are you looking for a plumber, electrician, or landscaper? How about a dentist or doctor? You can search Angie's List for those, and more than 500 other categories, online, by phone, or by fax.
I've listed Boulder Computer Maven on Angie's List in the Computer Repair & Services category. If you belong to Angie's list, I'd be very grateful if you'd post a review of my service for other members to see.
If you're not a member yet, this is a great time to join Angie's List. You can save 40% on the cost of a membership by using the promo code COOL30, which is good through March 20, 2011. If you want to try out the service without a long-term commitment, you can sign up for as little as one month.
For more information, please see the Angie's List FAQ web page.
Presto Printing Mailbox: E-mail for People Who Donít Use Computers!
Do you have a friend or relative who doesn't use a computer but would like to be able to receive messages, documents, and pictures? My mother bought a Presto Printing Mailbox after seeing it in a magazine, and I've set it up for her. Now, she has an E-mail address that friends and family can use to send messages to her. She's thrilled to be able to see pictures of her new great-grandchildren (she now has 6!).
The Presto Printing Mailbox doesn't need an Internet service like Comcast or Qwest. It uses an ordinary phone line to connect to the Presto service, automatically dialing in, retrieving messages, printing them, and hanging up the phone. Only approved senders can send messages to her, so Mom doesn't get any spam. I administer her account and maintain the list of approved senders.
If there's a problem with the mailbox, like a paper jam or low ink level, it automatically sends me an E-mail message. When it runs low on ink, I use the Presto service to order a new ink cartridge that's delivered right to her house.
Suggest a Newsletter Topic, Win a Prize!
Since I started this newsletter in 2004, I've written about 110 topics in 33 issues. You can see all of them on the Boulder Computer Maven Newsletters page. Now, I'm asking you, my valued clients, to suggest topics that you'd like me to cover. I'll write about the three best suggestions in my June, 2011 newsletter, and I'll send each winning entrant a coupon good for a $25 discount on your next Boulder Computer Maven service. If multiple people suggest the same topic, the prize will go to the first one who contacts me, so don't wait!
