Removing Spyware with Ad-Aware SE Personal

Ad-Aware SE Personal, a spyware removal program created by Lavasoft, Inc, is free for non-commercial use. For use in a commercial/educational/governmental environment or to purchase registered copies of Ad-Aware SE, click here.

Here’s how to use Ad-Aware SE Personal:
  1. Make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
  2. Double-click the Ad-Aware SE Personal icon on your desktop.
  3. If it says Your definitions are xx days old.  Would you like to check for updates now, click OK and go to Step 5.
  4. Click Check for updates now.
  5. Click Connect.
  6. If it says No updated components are available, click OK and go to Step 9.
  7. Click OK to update the definitions.
  8. Click Finish.
  9. Click Start.
  10. Click Next.  Ad-Aware SE Personal will scan your computer for spyware.  During the scan, it shows the number of spyware objects that it finds.
  11. When the scan has finished, click Next.
  12. Right-click any one of the displayed objects.
  13. Click Select All Objects.
  14. Click Next.
  15. Click OK to remove the selected objects.
  16. Click the X in the upper right corner to close Ad-Aware SE Personal.
