Removing Spyware with Spybot Search & Destroy

Spybot Search & Destroy is a free spyware removal program created by Patrick M. Kolla.  Please consider donating to the author to support the continued availablity and development of Spybot Search & Destroy.  Click here for donation information.

Here’s how to use Spybot Search and Destroy:
  1. Make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
  2. Double-click the Spybot Search & Destroy  icon on your desktop.
  3. Click Search for Updates.
  4. If an information box saying No newer updates available appears, click OK and go to Step 9.
  5. Right-click any one of the available updates
  6. Click Select All.
  7. Click Download Updates.
  8. Wait for the updates to download, as indicated by a green check mark next to each one.
  9. Click Search & Destroy.
  10. Click Check for problems.  Spybot Search & Destroy will scan your computer for spyware.  During the scan, it shows all spyware objects that it finds.
  11. When the scan has finished, click Fix selected problems.
  12. A confirmation appears saying You are about to remove these entries.  Do you want to continue?  Click Yes.
  13. A confirmation appears showing the number of problems fixed.  Click OK.
  14. Click the X in the upper right corner to close Spybot Search & Destroy.
